Born: January 1993
Hometown: San Jose, CA
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 200 lbs.
Years Racing: 11 years.
Graduated from Leigh High School in 2011.
Racing Stats:
Started Racing at the age of 11, racing go-karts in Phoenix, AZ at AKA Speedway.
In 2009, Shawn moved from go-karts to Dwarf Cars, racing at Watsonville, CA's Ocean Speedway.
In 2010, Shawn finished 2nd in the Bay Area Dwarf Car Championship and captured 4 main event wins: 2 at Watsonville Ocean Speedway and 2 at Petaluma Speedway.
In 2011, Shawn won the Bay Area Dwarf Car Championship and the Petaluma Speedway Championship, capturing 12 wins that year. Including 1 National Main Event win at Pahrump Valley Speedway in Pahrump, NV; 5 wins at Watsonville's Ocean Speedway; 6 wins at Petaluma Speedway.
In 2012, Shawn won the NorCal Dwarf Car Championship. That Championship involves all three NorCal tracks: Placerville Speedway, Marysville Raceway, and Silver Dollar Speedway. Along with the Championship, Shawn clinched 12 main event wins, including wins at Watsonville's Ocean Speedway, Petaluma Speedway, National Main Event Win at Southern Oregon Speedway, Placerville Speedway and Marysville Speedway.
2013 was a year of Sprint Car testing. Early in 2013, Shawn and his race crew bought a Spec Sprint Car which runs a carbureted Chevy 350, primarily racing in the Joe Hunt Magneto Series. His dream of running a Sprint Car came true after his sister Amanda received a phone call concerning the 80N Dwarf Car at Placerville Speedway. The man on the phone call was very interested in building Shawn a Spec Sprint engine to run for the 2013 year. He was overly impressed by Shawn's driving style in the 80N Dwarf Car. Shawn finished 2013 with 5 top 5 finishes in the Spec Sprint and 4 wins in the Dwarf Car.
2014 was the year Shawn succeeded at taking home the Western States Dwarf Car Championship!! No more almost, no more bad luck, just pure success. I have never seen a team more excited than when Shawn came off the race track at Marysville Nationals, the last national of the season, with the win and the Championship! He accomplished everything he's ever wanted in the Dwarf Car that night.
2015 and 2016 would follow 2014 adding two more Western States Dwarf Car Championships to Shawn’s name. In 2015 Shawn won 23 races making it his highest winning racing season of his career.
Shawn returned to the Wingless Sprint car in 2018 with a freshly built engine and determined attitude. He stormed in winning his first Joe Hunt Wingless Main Event Win at the very start of the season. Shawn captured four more wins in the wingless that year His consistency led to the 2018 Joe Hunt Magneto Wingless Series Championship.
The consistency continued through the beginning of the 2019 season when Shawn placed 2nd the first two Hunt Magneto Wingless races. Followed up by taking the checkered 1st the next three races. Unfortunately, a few broken parts ended the season for the24 Wingless.
2020 was an odd year for everyone but Shawn managed to get as much racing in as possible. Shawn and his brother-in-law traveled the western part of the United States from as far south as Yuma, AZ to as far west as Rock Springs, WY claiming 16 dwarf car wins and the Western States National Championship. Shawn also collected 4 wins in the Wingless Sprint Car. Out of the 34 races Shawn competed in; he won 20 of them and finished 2nd ten times. His average finishing position of 2020 was 2.38 making it his most competitive year so far. This caught the eye of a Wingless Sprint Car Team Owner who has teamed up with Shawn for the 2021 season.
